About The Problem

We are losing more than 106,000 persons to drug overdoses every year. There are 244,000 Americans sent to prison annually for drug related crimes. Twenty-six percent of all arrests in America are related to drug offenses. The families of these young people are devastated and each and every event causes severe downstream societal damage.
Senior physicians, the federal government and pharmaceutical companies changed and ruined the very culture of opioid use in our country. These three groups are responsible for our opioid crisis today.“The misguided acceptance of pain as the fifth vital sign has been, and still is, the single biggest mistake in the history of modern medical pain management.” A quote from Medical Economics
The Federal law is direct and to the point.
“The refilling of a prescription for a controlled substance listed in Schedule II is prohibited.”
These same three groups wrote and legislated a 237 word “Loophole” into the opioid law. This loophole describes about how to legally not obey the law and write for refills of opioids. The federal law is very specific and states there are NO REFILLS of pain pills. The loophole in the law must have been written by legislators who either don’t know about the problem they made, or they don’t care that people are losing their lives due to opioids.
I have asked my family and my friends, and nobody has ever seen or heard of a federal law that describes in detail how to NOT obey a new legislated law. Let's hold our government accountable, close the loophole, and let’s start obeying the spirit of the federal law and stop drug diversion.
The government, senior physicians and drug companies got our country into this opioid mess. In addition to starting the whole opioid problem, these same 3 groups wrote the loophole into the Federal law so that the problem will never go away! It is up to us, the young generation to do the hard work of fixing the mess they made. Let’s close the older generation’s messy loophole.
